熱情 Netsujoh　

熱情とは、燃え上がる様な激しい感情です。
身体の中に炎の様に熱く燃える魂。
提灯に火を灯し、情熱を掲げて太鼓を打ち込みます。
"Netsujoh" is an emotion that ignites with the intensity of a fire.
It is the spirit that burns hot inside our body like a flame.
With paper lanterns lit and our passion aflame, we will hammer against the drums.
 

石塊 Ishikure　

石塊とは石の塊です。
日本語で「石＝いし＝Rock」という発音は「意思=Intention」と同じです。
今まさに何かをやり始めようとする気持ちを心の内に秘め、じっと転がっている石コロ。 石塊に宿る「意思」の強さと重さをRockに表現してみたいと思います。
"Ishikure" is a mass of rock. In Japanese, the word for "rock" ("ishi") has the same pronunciation as the word for "intention."  Imagine a stone lying motionless, it's heart full of desire to start doing something.  We want to express the strength and weight of that stone's intention through (musical) rock.
 

烈火 Rekka

烈火とは、烈しく燃える炎という意味です。
共に切磋琢磨し合う者同志が、太鼓を通して火花を散らす。
個性豊かにぶつかり合うエネルギー。
心音がシンクロし始めます。
"Rekka" is a fire that burns intensely.
Sparks fly as comrades who cultivated their art together hit the drums.
The unique energy of each drummer collides together.
Our heartbeats begin to synchronize.

 

楽打 Rakuda

楽打とは、「楽しい」という言葉の「楽」という漢字と「太鼓を打つ」の「打」という漢字を組み合わせた造語です。音の響き（発音）は日本語で動物の「らくだ」をイメージしています。らくだの少しとぼけた様な感じ、砂漠を飄々と歩いている感じをイメージしながら「楽しく打つ」。それが楽打という曲です。今では倭の代表曲とも言える曲で、この曲と共に世界を駆け抜けています。
The word "Rakuda" was created by combining the first part of the Japanese word for "joy" with the first part of the Japanese word for "beat" (as in "beat the drum"). In Japanese, a camel is also called a "Rakuda." As we joyfully beat our drums, we imagine wandering aimlessly through a desert and the slightly foolish impression of a camel. That's what this piece, "Rakuda", is about. It could be considered Yamato's signature piece, and we bring it all over the world on our tours.

 

有頂天 Utyoh-ten

有頂天とは、仏教における天上界の最高の処を表す言葉だそうです。
その意味合いが転じて現代の社会での有頂天と言う言葉の意味は「我を忘れて上の空になっている状態」を示します。意味は完全には理解できませんが、ようするに「気分は最高！」ということです。
The Japanese word used for the title refers to the highest level of the heavens in Buddhism. In modern Japan, that word has come to mean a state where one forgets oneself and becomes absentminded. I don’t entirely understand the meaning, but to put it simply—it means to feel fantastic.

 

壱徹 Ittetsu

壱徹とは、思い込んだら寄り道せずにやり遂げる、まっすぐな性格を指す言葉です。日本では「頑固一徹」という言葉がありますが、良くも悪くも自分を押し通す強さを感じます。
負けそうになるのを堪えながら、自分と戦い続けます。
A person who is stubborn will see something to the end without getting distracted once they set their mind on it.  In Japan, we use the term "ganko ittetsu." It suggests the strength of insisting on one's own way, for better or worse.  We'll keep fighting ourselves, even when it seems like we're about to lose.
 

 

我楽多 Garakuta

我楽多とは、使い道がなく、役に立たなくなったもののことです。
でもそれはゴミではなく、もしかしたら誰かの宝物かもしれません。漢字で書くと、意味は「我（Ga）、楽（Raku）、多（Ta）」＝「I have fun」。多分、訳があってこの世に生まれたけれど、それほど役にもたっておらず・・・。でもまあ私なりに色々考えて今日も生きている。チャッパという小さな楽器を使ったコミカルな曲です。
"Garakuta" refers to things which have no purpose and are no longer useful. But it's different from garbage. It might even be someone's treasure. The Japanese word is written with the characters "ga," "raku" and "ta"—which together mean "I have fun." I was probably born into this world for some reason, but I never quite found my purpose… But, hey, I'm making sense of things in my own way and I'm still alive today. This is a comical piece that uses a small instrument called a chappa.

 

巓 Itadaki

巓とは山のてっぺん、頂上のことです。
誰しもが何かしら目標をもって生きています。
全身を使い、汗をかき、時に涙を流し、目指すはてっぺん、頂上。大きな山、小さな山、なだらかな坂だったり、切り立った崖だったりを乗り越えて。
そこに立ち、見える風景と、笑顔。
"Itadaki" is the peak of a mountain.
Everyone lives life with some kind of goal.
We're all headed towards our own summit, giving it our all, sweating, sometimes shedding tears. We'll overcome large mountains, small mountains, gentle slopes, and steep cliffs. All to be able to stand there, look over the scenery and smile.
